Agasthyakoodam is a forested peak in the Sahyadri Range of Mountains, and is considered the second highest peak in Kerala. Standing tall, at a height of 1890 meters above sea level, Agasthyakoodam ranks high among favored tourist destinations in Kerala and is located 61 kms north-east of Trivandrum. |

Designated as an ideal gene pool of faunal population, Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary is inhabited by rare and exotic wild life species. Yet another sanctuary in Western Ghats, the Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 128 sq. km in Neyyar Reservoir. The area was declared as a sanctuary in the year 1958. Abundant in grasslands and evergreen forests, the sanctuary is home to mammals, reptiles, birds and amphibians. |

Some frequently spotted creatures are elephants, gaurs, sambars, deer, lion-tailed macaque, tiger, Nilgiri-tahr amongst animals; flying snakes, cobras, viper, pythons amongst reptiles; fishers, white-breasted water hen, little green heron, woodpeckers, Indian cuckoos, gray jungle fowl, common mynas, amongst birds and many other creatures. There is an exclusive opportunity to spot crocodiles, deer and lions in Crocodile Farm, Deer Farm and Lion Safari Park respectively in the sanctuary. |

Ponmudi(The Golden peak) is the nearest hill station to thiruvanathapuram. With its consistently pleasant climate, narrow, winding paths and lush, green vegetation, Ponmudi is a perfect destination for hiking and trekking. The tea gardens of the area are also famous. Situated 910m above sea level on the Western Ghats, Ponmudi boasts of extreme scenic beauty and a serene atmosphere. |

One of the major attractions is Agasthyakoodam which is one of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats (1868m) and is characterized by its sheer wilderness. It can, however, only be accessed with permission from the Forest Department. Other attractions are the Golden Valley and the Deer Park (located 3 km away). The Golden valley is one of the most picturesque sites of Ponmudi with its tropical vegetation and access point to the river Kallar. The Meenmutty Falls is also another famous tourist spot. |
