CHERAI BEACH

Location:

Near Vypeen Island accessible by boat (30 minutes journey) from Ernakulam

15 Kilometre long Cherai Beach is the best clean golden beach of Kerala and is rightly called " The Prnicess of the Queen of the Arabian sea". 45 kms from Ernakulam city, this lovely beach bordering vypeen island is ideal for swimming. Dolphins are occasionally seen here. A typical kerala village with paddy fields and coconut groves nearby is an added attraction.
The newly beautified 400 Meters of the main beach with the walkway adds to the charm and the Highmask lamps makes the beach enjoyable even at night. Cherai is well known for the mouth lingering fresh sea food.
Cherai Beach is that beautiful place where life goes on as it did hundred years ago, unperturbed by the worldly commotion. Cherai Beach is a lovely place where people come for picnic or visit the place as a favorite weekend Getaway where you can bathe in the cascading waves and get the pleasure of being pampered by nature. Cherai Beach stretches along more than 25 acres of land. Cherai Beach is ideal location for relaxation and rejuvenating your spirits, as you will have plenty of peace and solitude for yourself in this place.
Attractions:
One of the must visit places of Ernakulam is the Cherai Beach. Bordering the nearby Vypeen Island, which is also an ideal location for swimming and the Bolghatty Island, famous for its palace of the same name attracts a considerable number of tourists every year.

The Bolghatty Palace of the island was built in 1744 by the Dutch and later taken over by the British. Now the palace has been converted to a hotel by the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation. It also has a small gold course and few special honeymoon cottages.
